Studebaker Two Ways
In Arizona, just off Route 66 in Petrified Forest National Park, is a 1932 Studebaker.
Since the Studebakers were heavily vested in the South Bend Watch Company, I had to stop and record some history of my own.
It felt a bit like a family reunion. We ate ham, potato salad and talked about the past — just the three of us.
I’ve only owned this watch for a month but it’s already been apart of some great memories.
What I wouldn’t give to know more about the rest of its life.
Maybe it’s been on Route 66 before — perhaps even in a Studebaker.

Grand Canyon. Grand Watch.
In 1903, Theodore Roosevelt visited the Grand Canyon. He was so impressed that he declared it a national monument in 1908.
Then in 1919, Wilson declared the Grand Canyon a national park.
Today, more than 100 years later, I visited the Grand Canyon wearing my century old (1910) South Bend Watch and these two historic items met for the first time.
Suffice to say they were both smitten with each other.

Fancy Dial
One of the most pristine South Bend fancy dials I've come across. I couldn't turn it down when Frett Clockworks offered it to me. One of a kind!

Movement
Thermal treated screws and regulator make for a brilliant splash of blue on the back.

Fancy Dial without Crystal
This is with the crystal top off so you can see the dial in all its glory.
I'm one of the founders here and this is my favorite South Bend. It was completely revamped by Frett Clockworks and is really one of a kind. Additionally, it traveled with me on a 6 week out west trip in 2022 to 12 national parks.
